The Warrior’s Walk (3)

The Warrior’s Walk is a grassed path leading through a small plantation of Norway Spruce (Picea abies). The path is lined with Spring Snowflakes (Leucojum aestivum) that grow through the longer grass bordering the path.

The name derives from the original placing of wooden ship’s figureheads at either end of the walk, one of which came from HMS Warrior. The figureheads have long since disintegrated and have been replaced by two neo-Palladian figures and only the name lives on.
