The Spring Garden

The Spring Garden is, as its name suggests, at its best during spring. It is a grassed area planted with Narcissus, Aconites, snake's head fritillaries, and crown imperials.

The path through the Spring Garden is lined by an avenue of Snowy Mespilus (Amelanchier canadensis) that frame the three statues on the bank of Bishop's Walk behind you. A small tree of Aesculus x neglecta 'Erythroblastos', a small member of the chestnut family with beautiful shrimp-pink foliage in spring, can be seen to the left of the path.

Follow the grass path until it becomes a tarmac path, and follow it around to the right. You are now in the Winter Dell.
