The Pinetum

Entrance to the Pinetum

On leaving the visitor centre, turn left along a gravelled path which takes you to the Pinetum.

A circle of Junipers set in lawns can be seen immediately left of the path with various other conifers set throughout the rest of this recently planted area. Further along this path, a stand of mature conifers, with the backdrop of a mixed species shelter belt, shows the great size attained by these trees when given enough space to grow. As part of the entrance/pinetum, 36 young Giant Redwood trees (Sequoiadendron giganteum) have been planted. In a few years time these trees will dominate the East Anglian skyline and be seen from a great distance.
