The Olympian Walk and Holm Oak Avenue

To the right of the Quarry Pool, as you face Lode Mill, a grass path can be seen passing between beds of shrubs. On your right, as you walk this path is a statue group, known as Olympian Courtship or Meleager and Atalanta, which gives this area its name. Straight ahead, viewed through an avenue of Holm Oaks, is another group statue, painted green, called The Huntsman.

Just before the Holm Oak Avenue, a turning to your right will take you to Warrior's Walk and Emperor's Walk. Warrior's Walk is a straight grass path leading through a plantation of Spruce, either side of the path are planted bulbs of Spring Snowflake (Leucojum vernum). The name of the walk is derived from the time when, at either end stood ship's figureheads, both of which came from HMS Warrior.
