The Arboretum

On leaving the Pinetum you pass between a pair of statues, of Hercules, wearing the pelt of the Nemean Lion, which he killed as the first of his twelve labours, and of Vertumnus, the god of the seasons and master of disguise, with his mask.

Turn right at this junction, and head along the Front Drive.

On your right is the Arboretum, containing a range of deciduous trees including Oliver's Lime (Tilia oliveri), Hungarian Oak (Quercus frainetto), Indian Horse Chestnut (Aesculus indica), the Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipiferum), the Pagoda Tree (Sophora japonica), and the Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea).
