This garden is kept as a meadow area and comes into its own in the spring, when the bulbs planted in the long grass are in flower.
A mown path leads from west to east, flanked by an avenue of young Amelanchier trees whose white blossom lifts the whole area.
The bulbs include Crown Imperials, Narcissus, Tulips and right at the beginning of the season Aconites.
An unusual tree, Aesculus x neglecta 'Erythroblastos', stands to the southern end of the garden, it is a member of the chestnut family with striking, shrimp-pink, leaves in spring.
Unfortunately the leaves take on a yellowish hue during the summer that gives the impression that the plant is ailing.
